About 20 layouts and 30 traders are expected so plenty to see across all scales and periods too, as well as many experts on hand if you have an questions or seeking advice.
Won't list all the layouts on show but here's a few to whet your appetite and hope you go and enjoy an excellent show, it's been going over 40 years so I suspect they know how to keep everyone entertained.
Clayton West (OO). The 3.5 miles long branch line to Clayton West (diverging from the Huddersfield – Sheffield line at Clayton West Junction) closed to traffic in 1983, with the closure of the associated colliery. Freight traffic, other than that associated with the colliery, had ceased nearly 20 years earlier.
This layout is based on a premise that government funding was made available to regenerate the area, resulting in a shopping village on the colliery site, new homes and businesses when the colliery closure was announced.
Orestone Quay (OO). The layout was built by the late John Lewis, who was at one time a prominent member of the Burgess Hill MRC. It is set “somewhere” on the south coast during the period 1935 to 1947.
There is a passing resemblance to Weymouth Quay. Trains make their way through the narrow streets, beside scratch built shops, to the main quayside, where several ships can be seen. There are three lines beside the quays where un/loading can take place.
