LSWR [SOUTHERN] CLASS M7 -- OO GAUGE MODEL WILLS FINECAST KIT

LSWR CLASS M7 [A WILLS FINECAST KIT]

No 19 -- Finished in Southern Region Green, white lined and brass fittings.

Has the small prefix (E) above the number which indicates it was based at the Eastleigh Depot. (other locos in the class would have had either an (A) for Ashford or a (B) indicating Brighton.

This would have been one of the earlier white metal kits that my late father built, as he started out working on OO Gauge models before moving up to O Gauge.

His early work focused on the Southern Region, though we did have a number of Great Western stock too. As the models became bigger and more difficult the focus moved to the LNER as demonstrated by other models I have of his later work.

There are a couple of preserved examples of this class still available to see, one is running on the Swanage Railway and the other can be found at the National Railway Museum in York. Both are sites I hope to visit in the coming year.
