Some pictures taken by my father during a visit to the centre in May 2009;
The hope remains that this line will be upgraded and renewed as part of a cross country link extending the service from Aylesbury to the likes of Oxford / Bicester and Banbury. So far though the railway centre is not even connected with the goods line so changes in rolling stock have to arrive by road.
(Above) Looking across to Platforms 2 & 3, of course platform 2 is unused and 3 is the site of the Brill Tramway which the centre would like to continue to rebuild a part of. At present there is a section of track laid (visible heading towards Aylesbury) and when fully open for visitors there are brake van runs up and down this section.
Note the very impressive signal gantry very much on "display" only. There is no current connection with the "main line" meaning the railway centre is somewhat cut into two halves.
A GWR Pannier tank in sparkling condition sits lonely in the goods yard. Is one of the likely loco's used to give short rides up and down the yard but looks like it could do with a bit more action on another line with GWR heritage connections.
There is a Steam Gala on the May Bank Holiday weekend Sun 3rd - Mon 4th May.
A special service will run from Aylesbury and this is usually a Diesel Rail-car shuttle.
The Bubble Car service is seen here arriving at Quainton Road.
