BUILT DEC 1889 AT NINE ELMS, SCRAPPED 1946.
DESIGNED BY ADAMS THIS ENGINE PULLED QUEEN VICTORIA'S FUNERAL TRAIN FROM STOKE'S BAY TO LONDON. THE QUEEN HAVING DIED AT OSBORNE HOUSE ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT.
MODEL BUILT BY MY FATHER, MR GEOFF TYLER, SUPERBLY DETAILED AND A GOOD RUNNER AS WELL DESPITE IT'S AGE.
Beautiful model. Just to note, 555 hauled the funeral train from the Royal landing stage at Gosport (not Stoke's Bay) as far as Fareham, with the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway's 54 'Empress' taking over for the run from Fareham to London Victoria.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the correction I didn't know that, was only going on the notes that Dad left with the model. Appreciate you taking the time to update us. Regards
